The 59 1/2th Florida Writers' Festival

Oh, what a time we had Saturday night! Just shy of its 60th anniversary (of which we will be ever so proud), The Florida Writers' Festival this fall brought reporter/short-story writer/novelist PETE DEXTER to Gainesville.

Though I have not read any of his books, my parents have and are fans. I was able to snag this picture with him after his reading (which lasted an hour and forty-five minutes and ended more abruptly than any reading I have ever heard):

I also used the opportunity (since a podium was present) to do a little campaigning for my run at the Vice Presidency in 2012. My platform? "I am extremely knowledgable in foreign policy matters, since, on a clear day, I can almost see Mexico from Florida!"
