Wikipedia has this to say about Gainesville, under its "culture" subheading:
Gainesville is renowned in the recreational drug culture for "Gainesville Green," a particularly potent strain of marijuana. Orange and Blue magazine published a full-length article in Fall of 2003 about the history of Gainesville Green and the local marijuana culture in general.
This is news to me (and news that this item falls under Gainesville's "cultural" merits), but then again, I'm sober and boring these days. I do like that this strain, if it does exist, shares its initials with my alter ego.
NB: I've subsequently been informed, by a reliable source, that "GG" IS indeed real -- and good.
